Obituary- Payton Cook Sherwood Park, AB Car Accident Death

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Payton Cook, a freshman student and member of our men’s lacrosse team, who died in a car accident this evening. Our deepest condolences and prayers are with the Cook family during this heartbreaking time.

Payton, a business administration major from Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada, was a valued member of our community. His teammates, classmates, and faculty are grieving alongside his family, and we extend our support to all who are impacted by this tragedy.

Our Office of Student Affairs and Rev. E.J. Swatsell, director of spiritual life and special projects, are providing assistance to students, faculty, and staff. Local law enforcement continues to investigate the accident, and we ask that privacy be respected and speculation avoided.

In addition to Payton’s passing, four other students were injured. Their injuries are not considered life‑threatening, and we pray for their full recovery. As we walk through this tragedy together, we are reminded of the words of Psalm 46:1: “God is our refuge and strength, an ever‑present help in trouble.”
